Find the clash in the model, not during the shutdown.

The drawings are from 1998 and three retrofits ago. The new skid arrives, and the pipe run it was designed around moved 400 mm in 2011. The shutdown extends by four days and everyone blames the drawings.
Scan first. A registered point cloud of the actual plant, classified and published as a streamable model, lets the new design be checked against reality before fabrication starts. Clash detection against a cloud is not glamorous and it is the cheapest four days you will ever buy.
Control network first, then terrestrial scans at the required density, drone for anything above roof level or inside a live area.
